Hose line officer coordinates the attack
Firefighter I · Who you talk to: The incident commander (the evaluator) and your crew
As a Firefighter II you lead the attack line crew at a house fire, with search and ventilation teams working at the same time.
What this case adds
- Give the crew a plan of action and the right tools.
- Check everyone's PPE and SCBA during the attack.
- Watch fire growth and report changes to command.
- Coordinate with search and ventilation, and change tactics if the plan is not working.
Critical fails
- Entering without SCBA on air, or letting your partner enter without it.
- Starting an interior attack without two firefighters outside, unless life is in jeopardy and a rescue is needed.
- Losing voice or visual contact with your partner inside.
- Any action that compromises your safety or your team's (mandatory item in Pennsylvania's NFPA 1010 station).
