Firefighters
Put on the gear, grab the radio and do the job.
Every station follows the skill sheets that real Firefighter I and II practical exams use: each step is checked, and the critical steps decide the result. You work with your hands and your voice, just like on the training ground.
Skip a safety step and the fire wins: the station ends right there and the sheet shows your score and the step that was missing.
Firefighter I and II
Gear up in 60 seconds
Turnout gear and breathing apparatus, piece by piece, against the clock. Mask sealed, cylinder open, PASS device on, then "On air".
Extinguisher
Read the class of the fire, pick the right extinguisher, pull the pin, test, keep your distance, aim at the base and sweep.
Ladder to the window
Two of you carry, raise, extend and tie off the ladder. Call out overhead obstructions, set the angle and check it is solid.
Search and rescue
Check the door for heat, stay low with a hand on the wall, sweep the room, find the victim calling for help and drag them out before your air runs low.
Mayday
Trapped or out of air: "Mayday, Mayday, Mayday", then your location, unit, name, assignment and what you need. Activate the PASS and get out low.
Size-up and command
Arrive with the engine, walk the 360, give the initial radio report and take command.
Vehicle crash
Secure the scene, chock the car, check whether it is electric, count the patients and call for resources.
More jobs at the station
911 dispatcher
Take the call, get the address, the callback number and what is happening, choose the protocol and dispatch the engines.
Pump operator
Check the pump, connect the engine to the hydrant and deliver the right flow and pressure to every line.
Paramedic
The EMS patient assessment is already open in Medicine.
On the radio
The radio counts in every station: clear channel before you talk, who you call and who you are, a short message and an acknowledgment.
