Cluster the furniture and cover it. The building is a restaurant. It happens at night. As a member of a team, with salvage tools, equipment and an assignment, you protect a building and its contents from further damage. It is station 4-17 of Ohio's Firefighter I practical exam (NFPA 1001 4.3.14).

This scenario

  • Cluster the furniture and cover it.
  • The building is a restaurant.
  • It happens at night.

The steps

  1. Do one of the salvage tasks in the scenarios.
  2. On your own, do one of these: stop the water flowing from a sprinkler with a sprinkler wedge or stopper, or operate the main control valve of an automatic sprinkler system.
  3. No unsafe act during the evaluation.

To pass

  • All 3 steps.
  • The first task can be done and evaluated as a team; the sprinkler task is done and evaluated individually.
  • The evaluator can stop the station at any time for an unsafe act.
