RoboticsTelling everyone before the restart

The locks are off. Before the robot starts, the affected employees hear that the locks have been removed. You check the controls are in neutral, restore the energy and tell them the servicing is done and the robot is ready for use. If you only powered it to test or position it, you shut it down and lock it out again to keep working. It is the last step of the release from lockout in the federal rule.

Free to start

Scenarios

  • The servicing is finished and the robot goes back to production.
  • The robot is energized only to test or position it, and the servicing goes on afterwards.

The steps

  1. After the locks or tags are removed and before the robot is started, tell the affected employees that they have been removed.
  2. Verify that the robot's controls are in neutral.
  3. Restore the energy to the robot.
  4. Tell the affected employees that the servicing is completed and the robot is ready for use.
  5. If the robot was energized only to test or position it, de-energize all systems and apply the full lockout again before continuing the servicing.

Safety rules that stop the station

  • No robot is started after a lockout before the affected employees are told the locks or tags are off.
  • Testing with power follows the order: clear tools and materials, remove employees, remove the locks, energize and test, then de-energize and lock out again.

To pass

  • The affected employees were told before the robot started.
  • The controls were in neutral when the energy was restored.
  • After a test or positioning, the energy control measures were applied again in the full sequence before the work went on.
