Flight termination link problem
Astronaut · Who you talk to: Range safety and the launch director
The hardware that sends the destruct signal to the rocket, the one that protects the public if the rocket veers off course, cannot be confirmed.
What this case adds
- Without that assurance the launch is "No-go".
- Fix it and run a confidence test before the next poll, as the Artemis II team did.
Critical fails
- Answering "Go" with an open problem in your system.
- Waiving a mandatory launch constraint after the terminal count has started: it cannot be waived.
- Holding more than 3 minutes between T-6 and T-1:30 and pressing on instead of recycling to T-10.
- Not knowing the abort or emergency procedure for your role.
