About the NMBA OSCE
The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia assesses internationally qualified nurses and midwives with an outcomes-based assessment: first a multiple-choice exam, then an OSCE.
The OSCE checks that the candidate shows the knowledge, skills and competence of a graduate-level Australian nurse or midwife. A pass is valid for five years. Since 2025, nurses with recent practice in some comparable countries can register without these exams.
