About the NMC OSCE
The OSCE is the practical part of the Test of Competence of the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Nurses and midwives trained outside the UK, and some returning to practice, must pass it and the computer-based test to join the NMC register.
It has 10 stations: four linked stations around one patient (assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation, known as APIE), four skills stations and two stations on professional values and evidence-based practice.
