About the PLAB test

The Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board (PLAB) test of the General Medical Council is the main route to the UK medical register for international medical graduates. PLAB 1 meets the requirements of the MLA knowledge test and PLAB 2 those of its clinical skills assessment.

PLAB 2 is an OSCE of 16 scenarios of eight minutes each, set at the level of a Foundation Year 2 doctor, such as a consultation or an acute ward. Candidates are marked on data gathering, clinical management and interpersonal skills.
